ShowOUT verb. /ˈshō –ˈau̇t /
Similar to “turn out” to vote—but better! To ShowOUT means to be a millennial leader who will educate friends, register voters, participate in voter pledge drives, drive folks to the polls, and more to ensure that young people build our power and make our voices heard in our political process regardless of positions or partisan leanings!
We know that economic justice, reproductive rights, LGBTQ equality, voting rights, ending sexual violence, education access and a host of other issues will be decided in 2014. We hope to ensure that young people of all political persuasions make their voices heard.
CIRCLE reports that in 2012, 46 million young people ages 18-29 years old were eligible to vote, making up 21% of the voting eligible population in the U.S. That number will skyrocket to 36% of the electorate by 2016 and Millennials will represent just under 40% of the electorate by 2020.
Let’s get young people to ShowOut by speaking out, turning out, and voting in 2014.

Advocates for Youth, Feminist Majority Foundation, and the Planned Parenthood Generation have joined forces to bring you the 2014 Youth ShowOUT National Voter Engagement Campaign.
Established in 1980 as the Center for Population options, Advocates for Youth champions efforts that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates believes it can best serve the field by boldly advocating for a more positive and realistic approach to adolescent sexual health. Advocates focuses its work on young people ages 14-25 in the US and around the globe.
The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF) was created to develop bold, new strategies and programs to advance women’s equality, non-violence, economic development, and, most importantly, empowerment of women and girls in all sectors of society. All programs of the FMF endeavor to include a global perspective and activities to promote leadership development, especially among young women. Along with reproductive rights and access to reproductive technology, the FMF’s programs have focused on the empowerment of women in law, business, medicine, academia, sports, and the internet.
Planned Parenthood Generation Action is a movement of young people across identities and issues that organizes with, by, and for their generation in order to achieve reproductive freedom; led by the Youth Organizing Team at Planned Parenthood which leverages their expertise in youth organizing, leadership development, voter engagement programs, and infrastructure to motivate, empower, train and provide resources to support young people, affiliates, and partners in building power nationally.
